It would be sort of like getting attention for doing magic tricks or any other kind of opener.

REAL men wear pink.

So, you set out trying to find out how to make a paper flower.

You go to the library to look through what they've got and you don't find a book on making paper flowers but you do find some paper craft books.

You sift through these books with titles like, "The Expert Book of Paper Crafts" or "The Complete Origami Manual" that are as thick as an encyclopedia, you go through the index looking specifically for a flower you can make.

You actually find ONE flower in the book and it is unimpressive.

You pick up the next book, which is some paper craft book for little kids, and it's the exact same thing.

Finally, you find one in the next "Paper Craft Encyclopedia" and it looks decent.

But lo and behold, the instructions aren't worth the paper it is printed on.

You search some more and actually find an older book completely dedicated to making paper flowers!

To your ecstasy, you open it up but then BAM... you fell hard.

The illustrations are sub par, there is no illustration for every step and a lot of the instructions are confusing to read.

You give up on that and get online to look for something.

Surely on the internet with the wealth of information there is you will find something. Right?

So, you find many places online that claim to show you how to make a decent paper flower.

But to your disgust and disillusionment, what you find is some worthless web site made only for making money by displaying advertisements with no real information that sends you into an endless loop of clicking through their links to the next web site not to find ANY thing.

Finally, you find something that seems promising, yet it fails to deliver you the goods...

And the ones that are more decent just don't seem to totally cut it either.

Either they have poorly written instructions, no illustrations to go with the instructions or BOTH and YOU sit there grinding your teeth in frustration asking yourself, "What in the world is this person trying to show me?!"

Not to mention unorganized and an ugly layout that is killing your eyes and your patience.

There they are, telling you to do Step A, then B and then C and you are looking at the illustrations for each step wanting to pull your hair out because you can't figure out for the life of you how they went from one shape to the next one, which looks almost COMPLETELY different!

You scan the little text instructions wondering if you missed something...

NOPE. You did NOT.

"Push the sides in and bring the end up"

Argh! "Yea, thanks a lot". You did that and you still don't know what they are talking about! Your flower isn't looking at all like what they are showing!

It all becomes so much to accomplish when all you want is to make a pretty flower or bouquet for that special occasion or a loved one.

Seems like a lot of drudgery, sweat and teeth grinding to make a paper flower that only makes you want to say, "Forget it. I give up!"

Now, look... while many people sit down to learn how to make a paper flower by themselves out of some book, MOST give up.

It's not that they are stupid. They just become frustrated by what they thought would be a cool thing to learn and easy to do, when they realize they need to become a mind reader to know what the author is talking about!

I know you aren't dumb. Just because you tried to learn and then felt compelled to put that book away or close your web browser doesn't mean there is something wrong with YOU.

It's not YOUR fault and it's not that YOU lack passion or interest.

If you didn't have to go through all that indecency just to learn something so relatively simple, then congratulations.

Not everyone is an enthusiast who wants to invest the time to become a paper flower master with Kung Fu folding fingers and Aikido wrist action.

Some of us just want something pretty and special, made from our own hands, to give to that loved one, a friend, a crush or whatever your special case is and make someone happy.

And even if you do plan to make this a long term hobby you should have decent instruction.

Skill is one thing, but to be expected to have a crystal ball is unreasonable.

Heck, if you could actually get a real crystal ball you wouldn't need anyone showing you how to make paper flowers in the first place!

So, that's it.

You don't make any paper flower to throw in the tip jar and you never bothered to try to figure it out and you call it a loss.

Not much of an ending but imagine it.

That's what you want to do and for what seemed like such a simple thing you couldn't seem to get any help.

I mean, it's just paper flowers, right???
